Ateret Cohanim Israel & American Friends of Ateret Cohanim
are saddened by the passing of
Cherna Moskowitz z"l
to Gan Eden and to “Yerushalayim Shel Zahav of the Heavens”.
Cherna Moskowitz – "the Pearl & Lady of Jerusalem" was an elegant, regal, ideological and passionate giant of this generation, who effectively helped secure a united Jerusalem for the Jewish People.
For decades, together with her husband Irving z’l and later by herself,
Cherna z’l revitalised Jewish life in and around the Old City, by redeeming and reclaiming Jerusalem.
The children and families of many neighbourhoods in the heart of Jerusalem were "HER" children and today they mourn along with the "stones" of Jerusalem.
Ateret Cohanim has lost a beautiful powerhouse of a lady, a truly driven
and focused guardian and a modest benefactor and builder of Jerusalem.
Jerusalem has lost one of "her" pearls and Am Yisrael has lost an inspirational friend and supporter.
Cherna’s achievements, projects and neighbourhoods throughout Jerusalem are her legacy and this will bring us all some comfort.
Our hearts and good wishes are with the greater Moskowitz family.
Her memory and legacy will be everlasting.
